We recently welcomed the Leona M. and Harry B. Helmsley Charitable Trust to Philanthropy New York. We asked Christopher Percopo, Grants Administrator for the Trust, to share details about the organization and its latest initiatives in this Member Spotlight.

What are your primary areas of focus?
The Trust, established in 1999, is administered by five trustees. As a continuation of Mr. and Mrs. Helmsley’s generous giving throughout their lifetimes, the Trust supports a diverse range of organizations with a major focus on health and medical research, in addition to programs in human services, education, and conservation.

American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

 

 

 

 

 

We recently welcomed the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals to Philanthropy New York. We asked Michael Barrett, Senior Director of Grants Management at ASPCA, to share details about the organization and its latest initiatives in this Member Spotlight.

What are your primary areas of focus?
The ASPCA provides approximately $5 million in annual assistance to a variety of animal welfare organizations in the United States. Our largest and most successful grant program is ASPCA Mission: Orange (AM:O)—a collaborative of selected animal welfare and community organizations around the country charged with creating a country of humane communities, where animals receive the compassion and respect they deserve, and where there is no more euthanasia of homeless animals simply because of a lack of resources.

We recently welcomed The Pilgrim Foundation to Philanthropy New York. Suzanne Daniel, Director of the foundation, shares details about Pilgrim and its latest projects in this Member Spotlight.

What are your foundation’s primary areas of focus?
Our mission is broad—we are dedicated to protecting children and the most vulnerable members of society by offering financial support to Christian organizations with the same goal. Specifically, we have provided funding to crisis pregnancy centers, orphan care programs, adoption agencies, schools, housing providers, legal service providers, and more, both domestically and internationally.

Our foundations, located in Montreal, Jerusalem, and New York, focus on several areas, investing in the next generations: Canadian history and heritage, Jewish identity, Israeli educational reform, Israeli shared society, Israeli environment, and next generation philanthropy.
